How It Works

6-step soft capsule manufacturing process

Gelatin Preparation

Medical-grade gelatin (or HPMC) is melted in a thermostatic tank at 55-65°C. Colorants, opacifiers, and plasticizers are added to achieve the desired capsule appearance and flexibility.

Die Roll Heating

The twin die rolls are heated to 35-45°C using circulating thermal oil. The soft gelatin ribbon is formed as it passes between the heated dies, which control the capsule shape and size.

Capsule Forming & Filling

As the die rolls rotate, capsule pockets are formed and simultaneously filled with the product formulation through precision dosing pumps. Filling accuracy of ±2% is achieved with servo-controlled gear pumps.

Sealing

The capsule is sealed by the converging dies using adjustable pressure (0.3-0.8 MPa). The sealing depth and width are precisely controlled to ensure leak-proof capsules without compromising appearance.

Cooling & Cutting

Formed and sealed capsules pass through a cooling tunnel (15-25°C) to set the gelatin. Individual capsules are then automatically cut, ejected, and conveyed to the collection tray.

Quality Inspection & Drying

Emerging capsules are inspected for weight, sealing integrity, and appearance. Capsules are then dried on trays in a controlled humidity room (25°C, 30% RH) for 4-6 hours to reach final moisture equilibrium.
